Text: Zechariah 2:5
☆ God has always been in the business of shielding.
- He covered the shame of Adam and Eve. Genesis 3: 1-7, 21
Deuteronomy 29:5, Joel 2: 23-27
He replaces shame with glory. Colossians 1: 27
God uses various means to shield His people:
- His Blood. Exodus 12: 13, Revelation 12: 10-11
He shields you from:
- Unanswered prayers.
Isaiah 59: 1-2, 1 John 1:7 - He shields you from hindered access to Him; the blood of Jesus gives us access to God. Hebrews 10: 19
He shields us from anything that can hinder us from seeing God.
- The Word of God.
When the enemy wants to destroy you, God sends His word, and His word shields you from:
- Destruction. Psalm 107:20
- Barrenness. Exodus 23: 26
- Poverty. 3 John 1:2
- He shields you against enemies by His Name.
- If enemies are pursuing you and you call on the name of the Lord, they will be unable to touch you. Proverbs 18: 10
- If your enemies are running after you and almost catching up with you, they will stumble and fall. Psalm 27: 1-3, Philippians 2: 9-11
- He shields us by His fire.
He is the consuming Fire Himself. Hebrews 12: 29
♧ Whenever fire touches anything, it changes that thing to itself. That’s why anything touched by fire is said to be on fire.
♧ Anything fire can not turn to itself, it reduces to ashes.
♧ Whatever fire has touched, it deals with permanently. It can not be restored to its original state.
Judges 15: 14-15
☆ The Lord can also be shielded by His angels. Daniel 6, Acts 12
♧ There are occasions when God does not send an angel; He comes Himself to show that fire passes fire.
How do we get our children to be shielded by fire?
° There is a God Who answers by fire. He expects you as a parent to pray for your children. As you pray, He will answer you by fire.
° You have a duty to train up your children in the way of the Lord. Proverbs 22:6
But you can only train up your children in the way of the Lord if you know Him.
