Text: 1 Kings 19:5-8
• The purpose of food is to give strength. Acts 5:19
• The normal expectation is that two meals a day is to fill you for the day. 1 Kings 17:2-6
• In the text we read today, Elijah ate a special meal prepared divinely twice which should normally last him for one day but miraculously the meal have him the strength to last him for 40 days. The two meals gave him the strength to reach his goal.
• We see how God led them out with Silver and Gold. Their expectation was freedom.
• Exceeding the expectations was absolute healing and financial breakthrough. After the meal, God called them my anointed ones. Psalms 105:37, Psalms 105:12-15
The meal in Egypt was the beginning of what we now call ‘The Lord’s Supper’.
• The Holy Communion of tonight is the one you would partake of and you suddenly realize there is no way you can fail anymore because you have the strength of God.
• You cannot partake of this meal if you are not a child of God. It is dangerous as it can kill.
